roomie (noun): informal for roommate
– Our roomie never cleans the kitchen and leaves his dishes in the sink.

laid-back (adjective): easy-going, casual, or relaxed personality, 느긋한, 태평스러운
– My teacher is very laid-back about everything. I can turn in my homework late, and she doesn’t mind at all.

 

[Easy - Hotel Reservations]

roll out the red carpet” = give very special treatment to welcome guests
The nice thing about the hotel is that they always roll out the red carpet for their guests.”

  • kitchenette (noun): a very small kitchen
    – My first apartment was very small and only had a kitchenette.

I’d like to reserve a table for three for eight o’clock.    8시에 세 사람이 식사할 자리를 예약하고 싶어요

I’d like to reserve a room for two on the 21st of March.

Are you all booked that night?

How do you spell your last name, Mr. Maexner?

overeat” = eat too much          I really overate at lunch, so I think I’ll skip dinner.”

 

on the side (phrase): food served separate from other food
– We all ordered a salad with dressing on the side.
- What kind of dressing?    How about Ranch? But I’d like it on the side.

 

 How long will it take? it shouldn’t be more than about 30 minutes.

roll with the punches” = adjust to difficult situations : 힘든 상황에 적응하다
Living in a new country can be hard, but sometimes you just have to roll with the punches.”

  • tan (adjective): a light brown  (황갈색)
    – My brother is the man wearing the tan shirt.

come apart at the seams” = become very emotionally upset  (come apart : 부서지다, 흩어지다)
My wife came apart at the seams when she found out our daughter was lost in the mountains.
