1	By a hair	By a small difference,    very close,    by a very small margin . I ran like crazy to catch the bus so that I wouldn’t be late for my exam. Thankfully, I made it by a hair! . I forgot paying house rental fee. The last day, I just paid it by a hair.
2	Live with it	Accept it,               deal with it . You failed the exam and you must repeat the course. Stop complaining and just live with it. . Tomorrow is day of final math exam but it’s too difficult for me to study it. However, I need grade A in math to enter the university, so I will live with it to burn the midnight oil.
3	to set the record straight	To give the right information by clarifying the details yourself . Many people are spreading different information about what the exam will be about and when we will be doing it. On Monday, I will speak to all the students to set the record straight.
4	fair and square	To succeed while following the rules.    To win or achieve success, honestly . In 2016, many people were angry that Donald Trump became the new President of the United States. They even accused him of cheating. In the end, it was obvious that he won fair and square. . The player went to the Olympics and won the gold medal. But some competitors requested that he didn’t play fair and square. He ended up losing his medal due to positive in doping test.
5	To cheer s/o up	To encourage,    to make someone feel better . I decided to visit my friend and bring him his favorite lunch. He recently got laid off from work and he’s been down in the dumps. I thought my visit would cheer him up.
6	Give me a break	1) Save me from s/t . I keep having bad luck. God, please give me a break form all this bad luck. . I don’t like overtime work. So, I moved to another company and it gave me a break. Now, I am satisfied my life.   2) get out of here.                I don’t believe it.                   I can’t stand it. . My teacher thinks that he is a huge YouTube star now. Oh boy, give me a break!
7	To go wrong	To make a (big) mistake . Tony was a nice boy when he was younger, but unfortunately, he got involved with the wrong crowd and he went down the wrong path. . I made a cake, but it tastes horrible. Something went wrong when I added the ingredients.
