1 To pull an all-nighter To do s/t ALL NIGHT (usually work, study, related…)
. OMG! I forgot about tomorrow’s exam. I’m going to have to pull an all-nighter tonight just so I can pass it.
 
2 Be/look like a basket case To be useless
. When the doctor called me and left me a message that he urgently needed to speak with me, I turned into a basket case.
. I planned to go to Canada. After I arrived the airport, I was a basket case when I realized that my passport was left in my home.
. During final exam, suddenly my friend stood up and shouted. He looked like a basket case.
. I woke up lately due to low battery of alarm clock, and I missed the bus so I was late at office. And I found that I left my important document in my home. The meeting was the worst I have ever attended. What a bask case I am!
 
3 a load off you mind To feel relief after a very stressful situation
. I was very nervous about calling back my doctor, but it ended up being good news! Phew! What a load off my mind!
. Before I took a math exam, I was afraid because I was not good at math. But today I knew that I passed the exam. Now it’s a load off my mind.
 
4 A nervous wreck To be extremely nervous beyond control
. Every time John sees Maria, he turns into a basket case. I think he’s got a crush on her. He’s a nervous wreck whenever he sees her.
. Before I attend a job interview, I was a nervous wreck, because it was my dream job. But yesterday I practice a lot for expected interview questions, I could complete my job interview well. It’s a load off my mind.
 
5 To do the trick To fix the issue, to do what’s needed
. A) I can’t remove the oil strain off my shirt.
  B) Try using some liquid soap. That should do the trick.
. My laptop didn’t work. I tried to fix it but I couldn’t. My friend John visited my house and he just turned off and on. It did the trick. My laptop started to work.
 
6 A turn off To los interesting or attraction to s/o or s/t       ß à a turn on : attraction, exciting
. That apartment sounded perfect at first, but when I found out that it was on top of a night club, I didn’t rent it. That was a turn off for me. The night club turned me off.
 
7 Big head

. A) At first, I really liked the idea of Trump for president. Unfortunately, we discovered he had a really big head.                                  B) I’ll say!
